Who We Are

The Fairfield Democratic Town Committee is the official organization of the Democratic Party in the town of Fairfield, Connecticut. In Connecticut, Town Committees are elected bodies that are able to nominate candidates for local office, delegates for State and Federal conventions, and generally conduct a political party’s affairs in their town. According to our bylaws, our purpose is:

  • To preserve the best traditions of the Democratic Party
  • To promote new concepts within the framework of an organized Democratic political association
  • To conduct party activities
  • To elect qualified Democrats to office
  • To organize and direct general election campaigns
  • To recommend and nominate able and qualified Democrats for appointive office
  • To insure active study and improvement of the community of Fairfield in its governmental operations

With one member for every 53 registered Fairfield Democrats, the Fairfield DTC is the largest local party organization in the state. With a membership of 170, the DTC has in its ranks new families and lifelong town residents, current and former elected officials, community volunteers and issue advocates; we pride ourselves on our open and inclusive structure, and those interested in becoming involved in town government or local politics are encouraged to attend an upcoming DTC meeting. During the year, we have one general meeting scheduled per month, and also organize or direct members to fundraising events, campaign activities, social gatherings, and educational forums on a regular basis.
